Why do I want to Qualify for my Flight on Saturday?
Typically 80% of our participants play qualifying round Saturday morning. It is one of the greatest elements of the tournament and a competition in its own. Qualifiers range from scratch golfers to 25 handicaps and are flighted based on your qualifying score. Optional Deuce Pots, Skins Games and side competitions are common for this round alone.
Why do some choose not to Qualify?
There are a few reasons people choose not to play qualifying round and just get flighted.
#1 Typically, those who choose not to qualify are first-timers, didn't fully understand the format, or thought they needed to be a scratch golfer to qualify because it is required for Championship Flight eligibility. Your qualifying score simply determines your placement from Championship to 15th Flights.
#2 Participants not eager or capable of playing 36 Holes in a single day on opening Saturday so just they choose to get flighted and start their tournament Saturday afternoon which is perfectly understandable. If you are not qualifying, we HIGHLY encourage you have a GHIN # so you can be fairly flighted. However, GHIN # is not mandatory and tournament committee will flight accordingly.
